Description
User requests for Math ML support in AMIS.
If the MathML document can be reasonably rendered in IE, then AMIS should be able to handle it.
The problem with the two samples on the daisy.org MathML project page is that neither has a stylesheet automatically applied to the file.
If I install the Design Science Math Player, and also edit the DTBook file to use a simple CSS page, then I get some sort of mathematics displayed. However, AMIS is not math-aware, so it just treats the equation like any other phrase in a book. It cannot render text-only math intelligibly.
See attached image for a screenshot of AMIS and rudimentary math support.

As of AMIS 3.1, DTBOOK (DAISY 3) documents are preprocessed and transformed to XHTML before being displayed. This means that any MathML gets turned into a PNG and the corresponding SMIL description is played. However, this is not any worse than the previous behavior, because before the MathML island was shown incorrectly and no navigation was possible within the MathML anyway; you just heard a description of the whole thing.
Neither approach brings good MathML support to AMIS, but such a feature is out of scope and would require a major overhaul.
